Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures
EMERGENCY DETOUR ALERT: Bridging North America (BNA) has implemented a new detour on Woodmere Street in response to the emergency closure of the Fort Street and Dearborn Street intersection. Northbound motorists heading toward Springwells Street northbound will be detoured to Fort Street eastbound/Melville Street eastbound, south on Green Street southbound, west on Jefferson Avenue westbound, north on Dearborn Street northbound, north on Woodmere Street, east on Vernor Highway eastbound, and then Springwells Street.
West Jefferson Avenue
- West End Street will close at West Jefferson Avenue from September 6 - October 28, 2022.
- West Jefferson Avenue will close to westbound traffic between Cary Street and Green Street from August 26 to September 30, 2022.
West End Street
- West End Street will close at West Jefferson Avenue from September 6 - October 28, 2022.
Jefferson Avenue
- The right lane of eastbound Jefferson Avenue at the intersection of Dearborn Street will remain closed until September 12, 2022.
- The right lane of eastbound Jefferson Avenue between West End Street and Campbell Street will remain closed and be shifted to westbound Jefferson Avenue until September 12, 2022.
Green Street
- Green Street will remain closed between southbound I-75 Service Drive and Lafayette Boulevard until October 3, 2022.
Lafayette Boulevard
- Lafayette Boulevard will remain closed at the Green Street intersection until October 3, 2022.
Campbell Street
- The existing long-term closure on Campbell Street between West Jefferson Avenue and Fort Street will remain in place until October 31, 2022.
Fort Street
- The existing right lane and parking lane closure on westbound Fort Street between Wheelock Street and Beard Street will remain in place until October 3, 2022.
- The existing mobile closure on Fort Street between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place
until December 23, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily as needed.
Springwells Street
- The right lanes on northbound and southbound Springwells Street will close between Fort Street and southbound I-75 Service Drive from August 9 to October 10, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed. Mobile closures will be less than one hour as needed.
I-75 Service Drive
- Existing mobile closures on the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives between Clark Street and Green Streets, and Springwells and Central Streets will remain in place until October 31, 2022, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. as needed. Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
- Mobile closures on northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives between Schaefer Avenue and Michigan Avenue will remain in place until October 28, 2022, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- The existing northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive closures between Waterman Street and Dragoon Street will remain in place until December 16, 2022. These long-term closures have been extended to complete the realignment and reconstruction of the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives.
- Northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive will close over a long-term period between Green Street and Waterman Street. Combined with pre-existing Service Drive closures in the area will make the entire northbound and southbound Service Drive closed from Springwells Street to Clark Street.
The following road closures are in place;
- Waterman Street between northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives
- Dragoon Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
- Green Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive.
- The southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Dragoon Street until December 16, 2022.
- The northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Dragoon Street until December 16, 2022.
- The southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Junction Street and Clark Street until December 16, 2022, at 06:00 p.m.
- The northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Junction Street and Clark Street until December 16, 2022 at 06:00 p.m.
- The southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Dragoon Street and Junction Street until December 16,2022 at 06:00 p.m.
- The northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Dragoon Street and Junction Street until December 16, 2022 at 06:00 p.m.
I-75
- Starting August 29, 2022, the right lane on southbound I-75 will close between Lansing Street and Military Street until September 12, 2022, from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. daily as needed.
- Starting September 5, 2022, the right lane on southbound I-75 will close between Lansing Street and Junction Street until September 19, 2022, from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. daily as needed.
I-75 Northbound
- The Livernois exit-ramp at Northbound I-75 will close over a long-term period.
- The existing left lane closure on northbound I-75 between Harbaugh Street and Clark Street will remain in place until September 26, 2022.
I-75 Southbound
- The existing left lane closure on southbound I-75 will remain in place between Bagley Avenue and Junction Street until September 26, 2022.
- The existing left lane closure on southbound I-75 between Springwells Street and McKinstry Street will remain in place until September 26, 2022.
Long Term I-75 Closures
As construction of the Michigan Interchange and the US Port of Entry (POE) continues, Bridging North America will extend the temporary closures along Livernois Avenue. Additionally, Cavalry Street and Military Street will remain closed over a long-term period. As a reminder, in July 2020, several streets closed over a long-term period including sections of Dragoon Street, Driggs Street, Harvey Street, Reeder Street and Hussar Street.
Junction Street
- Junction Street bridge between the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives will close over a long-term period.
Springwells Court
- Springwells Court northbound and southbound is closed west of the Lafarge entrance to east of the Springwells Court detour from May 15, 2021 until November 23, 2024.
Cavalry Street
- Cavalry Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.
Military Street
- Military Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.
Post Street
- Post Street remains closed over a long-term period between CSX Railroad and the Delray Mechanical entrance.
Construction Activities
US Port of Entry (POE)
- Installation of underground wet and dry utilities continue at USDA building foundation.
- Activities on the commercial building included the installation of MCM panels, concrete masonry unit blocks in the electrical room, the in-wall rough ins for the conduits and pipes and the overhead cable trays, hangers and pipes on the mezzanine. Additional activities here included the caulking of precast panels, the installation of the ducts, interior frame, frame and glass installation, set chillers on the pads in the mezzanine and installation of waterproofing at the lower part of the precast panels.
- Activities on the main building included placement of concrete slab on metal deck, preparations for slab on grade, in wall rough in of conduits, the installation of overhead hangers and conduits, roof curbs, exterior frame, and set and detailed the blast frame.
- Outbound Building activities included the installation of overhead hangers on the second floor and preparation for the concrete slab on grade. Other activities included the installation of the underground branch conduits, precast panels and metal studs.
- Steel structure for the Pedestrian Bridge was detailed and footings were placed for the pedestrian processing building.
- Work continued on the manhole at Harvey Street.
US Bridge site
- Rebar activities continue for the upper cross beam in the transition area of the tower legs.
- Installation of floor beams, edge and redundancy girders continue at the side span deck.
- The team continues grounding work for the approach span.
Michigan Interchange
- Installation continues on the Cavalry siphon chamber wall rebar.
- The team excavated and built the crane pad and pile drone bottoms for the bridges and abutments, as well as installed footings and columns/walls.
- Rebar installation and concrete pours are well underway on various bridges, abutments and pier footings and column forms along I-75.
