Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures

Fort Street

• Starting September 30, 2024, Bridging North America will temporarily close Fort Street between Green Street and Rademacher Street for traffic island construction. This closure will be in place until October 11, 2024.
  • The left lane of westbound and eastbound Fort Street will close between Green Street and Rademacher Street.
  • There will be a mobile closure on Fort Street between Green Street and Rademacher Street.
  • The left turn lane on westbound Fort Street at Waterman Street will remain open.
• The existing mobile closure on Fort Street between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until late fall 2024, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily as needed.
• The existing parking lane closure on westbound Fort Street between Dragoon Street and Military Street will remain in place until further notice.
• The existing mobile closure on Fort Street between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until summer 2024, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Only one lane will close. The mobile closure will be less than one hour in duration.
• Starting July 31, 2024, Bridging North America will temporarily close Fort Street between Waterman Street and Campbell Street for curb and sidewalk reconstruction. This closure will be in place until October 15, 2024.
  • The right lane on eastbound Fort Street will close between Waterman Street and Campbell Street.
  • Two right lanes on westbound Fort Street will close between Waterman Street and Cavalry Street.
  • There will be a mobile closure on Fort Street between Waterman Street and Campbell Street, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
  • One lane on eastbound and westbound Fort Street will remain open in each direction.

Campbell Street 

• Campbell Street will remain closed between Fort Street and northbound I-75 Service Drive from April 29, 2024 until late spring 2024 Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

South Street 

• South Street will close between Green Street and South Harrington Street from August 26 – December 15, 2024. South Harrington Street will be accessible from Gould Street.

I-75 

• The existing right lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75 between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until fall 2024.
• The left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice.
• All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right shoulder of the I-75 on-ramp will remain closed between Springwells Street and southbound I-75 until further notice.
• The existing mobile closures along northbound and southbound I-75 between Schaefer Avenue and Michigan Avenue will remain in place until spring 2024, from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The southbound I-75 exit ramp will remain closed between southbound I-75 and Springwells Street until further notice.
• The southbound I-75 exit ramp right shoulder will remain closed at southbound I-75 until further notice.
• The existing right lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75 between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until summer 2024.

I-75 Service Drive 

• The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between southbound I-75 and the Clark Street off-ramp to Hubbard Street until fall 2024.
• The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and the southbound I-75 off-ramp until fall 2024.
• The existing closure on southbound and northbound I-75 Service Drives between Central Street and Green Street will remain in place until further notice.
• The existing mobile closures on the northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Rademacher Street until fall 2024 from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
• The existing mobile closures on the southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Waterman Street until fall 2024 from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these
    timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
• Northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive will close over a long-term period between Green Street and Waterman Street. Combined with pre-existing Service Drive closures in the area will make the entire northbound and southbound Service Drive closed from Springwells Street to Clark Street.
• The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Witt Street and Govin
  Street until further notice.
• The following road closures are in place:
  • Waterman Street between northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive
  • Dragoon Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
  • Green Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
• The left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until fall 2024.
• All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until fall 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street until spring 2024.
• All lanes on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street until spring 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right and/or left lane closures on northbound I-75 Service Drive between Central Street and Green Street will remain in place until fall 2024 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The existing closures on northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives between Dragoon Street and Clark Street will remain in place until summer 2024.
• The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Waterman Street until summer 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• All lanes of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Waterman Street until summer 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Lewerenz Street and Livernois Avenue until summer 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The left lane on northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Rademacher Street and Livernois Avenue until summer 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

Clark Street Overpass Bridge 

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Clark Street overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Clark Street overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Livernois Avenue Overpass Bridge 

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Livernois Avenue overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Livernois Avenue overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Green Street Overpass Bridge

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Green Street overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Green Street overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Springwells Street Overpass Bridge 

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Springwells Street overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Springwells Street overpass bridge will remain closed until summer 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Livernois Avenue 

• The existing closure on Livernois Avenue between Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks and Fort Street will remain in place until fall 2024.
• The existing right lane closure on Livernois Avenue between northbound and southbound I-75 will remain in place until winter 2024. Only one lane on Livernois Avenue will close. Livernois Avenue will remain open to traffic in both directions.

Jefferson Avenue 

• The existing intermittent lane closures on Jefferson Avenue between Green Street and Rademacher Street will remain in place until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.

Junction Street 

• The existing closure on northbound Junction Street at the intersection of eastbound Fort Street will remain in place until late spring 2024.
  • Northbound Junction Street will remain closed at the intersection of eastbound Fort Street until late spring 2024.
  • Southbound Junction Street will remain open in each direction until late spring 2024.
  • Detour routes are in place and include the following:
    • NB Junction Street Detour
    • Traffic on eastbound Jefferson Avenue heading to Fort Street will continue east on Jefferson Avenue to Clark Street, north on Clark Street to Fort Street.
• Starting August 5, 2024, Bridging North America will temporarily close Junction Street between Fort Street and northbound I-75 Service Drive for Junction Street Pedestrian Bridge work. This closure will be in place until December 20, 2024.
  • When Junction Street is closed, drivers will use Campbell Street to access the alley (north of Fort Street between Campbell Street and Junction Street). This will be the primary access point for residents who live on the west side of Junction Street during this work.
  • BNA will be onsite and will coordinate local access as needed to Junction Street during construction work hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • During work hours, residents can park on Fort Street near the corner of Junction Street or on Junction Street, south of Fort Street (near CHASS).
  • Campbell Street and Junction Street will not close at the same time to ensure access is maintained. Traffic updates will be provided as work moves forward. Emergency Services will be kept informed of all access changes in the area.
  • Pedestrian access will be available around Junction Street through Fort Street, Campbell Street, Morrell Street and the northbound I-75 Service Drive.
  • The Junction Street closure will not impact trash pick-up, mail delivery or access to homes.
• Detour routes are in place and include the following:
• Junction Street Detour
  • Local traffic on Fort Street heading to Junction Street northbound will be detoured to Campbell Street northbound, east on northbound I-75 Service Drive to Junction Street.
  • Local residents north of Fort Street between Campbell Street and Morrell Street can access Fort Street through Campbell Street the alleyways, northbound I-75 Service Drive, and Morrell Street by following the detour signs.

Long Term I-75 Closures: As construction of the Michigan Interchange and the US Port of Entry (POE) continues, Bridging North America will extend the temporary closures along Livernois Avenue. Additionally, Cavalry Street and Military Street will remain closed over a long-term period. As a reminder, in July 2020, several streets closed over a long-term period including sections of Dragoon Street, Driggs Street, Harvey Street, Reeder Street and Hussar Street.

Junction Street

• Junction Street bridge between the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives will close over a long-term period.

Springwells Court 

• Springwells Court northbound and southbound is closed west of the Lafarge entrance to east of the Springwells Court detour from May 15, 2021 until November 23, 2024.

Cavalry Street

• Cavalry Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.

Military Street

• Military Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.

Post Street 

• Post Street remains closed over a long-term period between CSX Railroad and the Delray Mechanical entrance.
• On March 25, 2024, Post Street will close over a long-term period between Jefferson Avenue and South Street. Access will be maintained for Delray Mechanical from Jefferson Avenue.

Campbell Street 

• The existing long-term closure on Campbell Street between West Jefferson Avenue and Fort Street will remain in place until spring 2024.

I-75 Northbound

• The Livernois exit-ramp at Northbound I-75 will close over a long-term period.

Construction Activities 

US Port of Entry (POE)

• Construction activities remain ongoing for interior and exterior components of the buildings and structures.
• This week, activities include drywall, piping and cabling installation, as well as electrical and plumbing work. Crews also installed glass at the Main Building and air conditioning units and humidifiers in various buildings.

US Bridge site

• The two sides of the bridge deck are now connected over the Detroit River.
• All stay cables have been installed. Post tensioning of the stay cables is currently underway.
• Approach and back span activities are ongoing.
• The US bridge tower has reached its full height of 220 metres/722 feet.
• Work on electrical systems, drainage system and fire suppression system is underway.

Michigan Interchange

• Construction continues as noted in the Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures above.
• This week, activities include asphalt paving and siphon work.
