Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures

Fort Street

• The existing mobile closure on Fort Street between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until late fall 2024, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily as needed.
• The existing parking lane closure on westbound Fort Street between Dragoon Street and Military Street will remain in place until further notice.
• Starting October 2, 2024, Bridging North America will temporarily close lanes on Fort Street between Livernois Avenue and Junction Street for curb, bike path and sidewalk construction. This closure will be in place until December 15, 2024.
  • The left lane of eastbound Fort Street will close between Livernois Avenue and Junction Street.
  • The two right lanes on westbound Fort Street will close between Livernois Avenue and Junction Street.
  • One lane on eastbound and westbound Fort Street will remain open in each direction.
• The right shoulder of eastbound or westbound Fort Street will remain closed intermittently between the corner of West End Street and the corner of Springwells Street until fall 2024, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.

South Street 

• South Street will close between Green Street and South Harrington Street from August 26 – December 15, 2024. South Harrington Street will be accessible from Gould Street.

Campbell Street 

• The existing intermittent right lane closures on northbound and southbound Campbell Street between Jefferson Avenue and Driggs Street will remain in place until fall 2024, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily as needed.
• The existing intermittent lane closures on Campbell Street between Jefferson Avenue and Fort Street will remain in place until fall 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
  • Two right lanes on northbound Campbell Street will remain closed intermittently between Jefferson Avenue and Driggs Street.
  • The right lane on northbound Campbell Street will remain closed intermittently between Fort Street and Driggs Street.
  • Two right lanes on southbound Campbell Street will remain closed intermittently between Jefferson Avenue and Driggs Street.
  • The right lane on southbound Campbell Street will remain closed intermittently between Fort Street and Driggs Street.

I-75 - NEW

• The existing right lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75 between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until spring 2025.
• The left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice.
• All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right shoulder of the I-75 on-ramp will remain closed between Springwells Street and southbound I-75 until further notice.
• The southbound I-75 exit ramp will remain closed between southbound I-75 and Springwells Street until further notice.
• The southbound I-75 exit ramp right shoulder will remain closed at southbound I-75 until further notice.
• The right or left shoulder of the southbound I-75 on-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until fall 2024, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right or left lane of the northbound I-75 off-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until fall 2024, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right or left shoulder of the northbound I-75 off-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until fall 2024, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right or left shoulder of northbound I-75 on-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until fall 2024, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The existing mobile closures along northbound and southbound I-75 between Schaefer Avenue and Michigan Avenue will remain in place until spring 2025, from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily as needed. • Only one lane will close.
  • Closures will be less than 60 minutes in duration during these timeframes for maintenance activities

I-75 Service Drive - NEW

• Sections of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed until spring 2025.
  • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between southbound I-75 and the Clark Street off-ramp to Hubbard Street.
  • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and the southbound I-75 off-ramp.
• The existing closure on southbound and northbound I-75 Service Drives between Central Street and Green Street will remain in place until further notice.
• The existing mobile closures on the northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Rademacher Street until fall 2024 from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
• The existing mobile closures on the southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Waterman Street until fall 2024 from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these
    timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
• Northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive will close over a long-term period between Green Street and Waterman Street. Combined with pre-existing Service Drive closures in the area will make the entire northbound and southbound Service Drive closed from Springwells Street to Clark Street.
• The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Witt Street and Govin
  Street until further notice.
• The following road closures are in place:
  • Waterman Street between northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive
  • Dragoon Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
  • Green Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
• The existing closures on northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain in place until winter 2025.
  • The left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street.
  • All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street until late fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• All lanes on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street until late fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The existing right and/or left lane closures on northbound I-75 Service Drive between Central Street and Green Street will remain in place until winter 2025 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The existing lane closures on southbound and northbound I-75 Service Drives will remain in place until winter 2025.
  • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Lewerenz Street and Livernois Avenue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The left lane on northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Rademacher Street and Livernois Avenue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Lewerenz Street until late fall 2024. This is a recurring closure that will be in place when needed and removed when the closure isn’t necessary.
• All lanes of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Lewerenz Street until late fall 2024 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right or left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently to the west of Springwells Street until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right or left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently between Springwells Street and Central Street until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right or left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently between Springwells Street and Central Street until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

Clark Street Overpass Bridge

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Clark Street overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Clark Street overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Livernois Avenue Overpass Bridge 

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Livernois Avenue overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Livernois Avenue overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Green Street Overpass Bridge 

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Green Street overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Green Street overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Springwells Street Overpass Bridge

• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Springwells Street overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right lane on the northbound and southbound Springwells Street overpass bridge will remain closed until fall 2024 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight as needed.

Livernois Avenue

• The existing closure on Livernois Avenue between Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks and Fort Street will remain in place until fall 2024.

Jefferson Avenue - NEW

• The existing intermittent lane closures on Jefferson Avenue between Green Street and Rademacher Street will remain in place until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
• The right lane on eastbound and westbound Jefferson Avenue will close between West End Street and Springwells Court from October 2 – December 20, 2024.
  • One lane on eastbound and westbound Jefferson Avenue will remain open in each direction.
• On December 7 and December 14, 2024, Bridging North America will implement intermittent closures on Jefferson Avenue between Springwells Court and Green Street for approach deck construction from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.

Springwells Court 

• The Springwells Court detour will remain closed intermittently at the intersection of Springwells Court until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.

West End Street 

• The right lane of northbound or southbound West End Street will remain closed intermittently at Fort Street until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

Springwells Street 

• The right lane of northbound or southbound Springwells Street will remain closed intermittently between southbound I-75 Service Drive and Olivet Street until fall 2024, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.

• The right lane of northbound or southbound Springwells Street will remain closed intermittently between Fort Street and northbound I-75 Service Drive until fall 2024, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.

Green Street 

• The right shoulder of northbound or southbound Green Street will remain closed intermittently between Fort Street and northbound I-75 Service Drive until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
• The right shoulder of northbound or southbound Green Street will remain closed intermittently between southbound I-75 Service Drive and Lafayette Boulevard from until fall 2024, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

Junction Street 

• Starting August 5, 2024, Bridging North America will temporarily close Junction Street between Fort Street and northbound I-75 Service Drive for Junction Street Pedestrian Bridge work. This closure will be in place until December 20, 2024.
  • When Junction Street is closed, drivers will use Campbell Street to access the alley (north of Fort Street between Campbell Street and Junction Street). This will be the primary access point for residents who live on the west side of Junction Street during this work.
  • BNA will be onsite and will coordinate local access as needed to Junction Street during construction work hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • During work hours, residents can park on Fort Street near the corner of Junction Street or on Junction Street, south of Fort Street (near CHASS).
  • Campbell Street and Junction Street will not close at the same time to ensure access is maintained. Traffic updates will be provided as work moves forward. Emergency Services will be kept informed of all access changes in the area.
  • Pedestrian access will be available around Junction Street through Fort Street, Campbell Street, Morrell Street and the northbound I-75 Service Drive.
  • The Junction Street closure will not impact trash pick-up, mail delivery or access to homes.
• Detour routes are in place and include the following:
• Junction Street Detour
  • Local traffic on Fort Street heading to Junction Street northbound will be detoured to Campbell Street northbound, east on northbound I-75 Service Drive to Junction Street.
  • Local residents north of Fort Street between Campbell Street and Morrell Street can access Fort Street through Campbell Street the alleyways, northbound I-75 Service Drive, and Morrell Street by following the detour signs.

Long Term I-75 Closures: As construction of the Michigan Interchange and the US Port of Entry (POE) continues, Bridging North America will extend the temporary closures along Livernois Avenue. Additionally, Cavalry Street and Military Street will remain closed over a long-term period. As a reminder, in July 2020, several streets closed over a long-term period including sections of Dragoon Street, Driggs Street, Harvey Street, Reeder Street and Hussar Street.

Junction Street

• Junction Street bridge between the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives will close over a long-term period.

Springwells Court 

• Springwells Court northbound and southbound is closed west of the Lafarge entrance to east of the Springwells Court detour from May 15, 2021 until November 23, 2024.

Cavalry Street

• Cavalry Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.

Military Street

• Military Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.

Post Street 

• Post Street remains closed over a long-term period between CSX Railroad and the Delray Mechanical entrance.
• On March 25, 2024, Post Street will close over a long-term period between Jefferson Avenue and South Street. Access will be maintained for Delray Mechanical from Jefferson Avenue.

Campbell Street 

• The existing long-term closure on Campbell Street between West Jefferson Avenue and Fort Street will remain in place until spring 2024.

I-75 Northbound

• The Livernois exit-ramp at Northbound I-75 will close over a long-term period.

Construction Activities 

US Port of Entry (POE)

• Construction activities remain ongoing for interior and exterior components of the buildings and structures.
• This month, paving continued around the Port of Entry. Ponds, light poles, fencing and precast perimeter walls are expected to be finished soon.

US Bridge site

• The two sides of the bridge deck are now connected over the Detroit River.
• All stay cables have been installed. Post tensioning of the stay cables is currently underway.
• Approach and back span activities are ongoing.
• The US bridge tower has reached its full height of 220 metres/722 feet.
• Work on electrical systems, drainage system and fire suppression system is underway.
• This month, paving of the bridge deck is taking place.

Michigan Interchange

• Construction continues as noted in the Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures above.
• This month, ramp work continues at various stages of landscaping, dewatering, and barrier wall construction and testing. Work continues along other sections of the Michigan Interchange including placing sidewalks and curbs as well as landscaping and road pavement. Siphon work is ongoing as well.
