Bike Rack Design Contest

The Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Benefits Plan includes a commitment to design one-of-a-kind, locally inspired bike racks for installation at locations within host communities and along the expanded trail systems in Windsor and Detroit that connect to the project multi-use path.

The project team partnered with St. Clair College in Windsor to provide students with the opportunity to submit bike rack designs for consideration.

Design requirements included a durable, easily maintainable stand-alone bike rack concept that is functional and sculptural in nature. Students submitted designs for consideration during the fall 2024 semester.

The selected student design has been installed at the Malden Park Trailhead and near the pedestrian processing building at the Canadian Port of Entry.
