Privacy Policy
Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) has a duty to protect the privacy of all users of its tolling infrastructure, including this website. Since WDBA collects certain information from its users, it is important for users to fully understand the terms and conditions of WDBA’s collection, use or disclosure of their information through this privacy policy statement.
WDBA’s tolling infrastructure operator has a separate privacy policy governing its collection, use or disclosure of personal information related to toll account customers’ registration and opening of accounts, administration and management of toll accounts.
Personal information provided to WDBA is collected and protected under the Privacy Act, R.S.C. 1985, c. P-21. For this purpose, WDBA and its tolling infrastructure operator have established physical, electronic and security systems and procedures to protect any information collected online, and prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure that they are used appropriately.
WDBA collects users’ information to enable WDBA and its tolling infrastructure operator to render services related to users’ use of WDBA’s tolling infrastructure, to enhance users’ experience of the website, and to contact users regarding the services it provides.
INFORMATION THAT WDBA COLLECTS
WDBA collects the following information from users:
- Information that users provide though voluntary submissions such as queries posted by users in the “Contact Us” section and information they provide when they register for services on the site, or when they respond to a survey, or fill out a form.
When using the website, users may be asked to enter their name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, as well as other personal information. Users may, however, visit the site anonymously if not registering for an account.
Personal information means any information about an identifiable individual where the information, alone or with other information that is reasonably available, can be used to identify that person. Certain information is exempted from this definition, like an individual’s business contact information that is used to communicate about their employment, business, or profession.
- Users’ Internet Protocol (IP) addresses may be captured in firewall and webserver logs. This forms part of WDBA’s comprehensive security and threat mitigation processes to identify and prevent potentially malicious attackers. The IP addresses are not correlated with any other web analytic information and any digital marker or web analytic information about individual users, unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected.
