Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures

Fort Street

  • The existing mobile closure on Fort Street between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until summer 2025, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The existing parking lane closure on westbound Fort Street between Dragoon Street and Military Street will remain in place until further notice.
  • The existing right lane closure on Fort Street between Green Street and Junction Street will remain in place until spring 2025, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The existing right lane and/or shoulder closure on westbound Fort Street between McKinstry Street and Junction Street will remain closed until spring 2025, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Two right lanes on westbound Fort Street will close between Livernois Avenue and Campbell
    Street from July 7 – 9, 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The center turn lane on Fort Street will close between Livernois Avenue and Campbell Street from July 7 – 11, 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Two right lanes on eastbound Fort Street will close between Livernois Avenue and Campbell Street from July 8 – 11, 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.

Cavalry Street 

  • The existing closure on Cavalry Street will remain closed between Anthon Street and Fort Street until spring 2025.
    • Detour routes are in place and include the following:
    • Cavalry Street Detour
    • Local traffic on westbound Fort Street heading to Cavalry Street will be detoured south on Junction Street, west on Anthon Street to Cavalry Street. 
    • Local traffic on eastbound Fort Street heading to Cavalry Street will be detoured south on Campbell Street, west on Anthon Street to Cavalry Street.

South Street 

  • The existing closure on South Street between Green Street and South Harrington Street will remain in place until spring 2025. South Harrington Street will be accessible from Gould Street.

I-75 

  • The existing right lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75 between Springwells Street and Clark Street will remain in place until summer 2025.
  • The left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice.
  • All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right shoulder of the I-75 on-ramp will remain closed between Springwells Street and southbound I-75 until further notice.
  • The southbound I-75 exit ramp will remain closed between southbound I-75 and Springwells Street until further notice.
  • The southbound I-75 exit ramp right shoulder will remain closed at southbound I-75 until further notice.
  • The right or left shoulder of the southbound I-75 on-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until summer 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right or left lane of the northbound I-75 off-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until summer 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right or left shoulder of the northbound I-75 off-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until summer 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right or left shoulder of northbound I-75 on-ramp will remain closed intermittently at Springwells Street until summer 2025, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The existing mobile closures along northbound and southbound I-75 between Schaefer Avenue and Michigan Avenue will remain in place until summer 2025, from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 60 minutes in duration during these timeframes for maintenance activities.
  • The existing three lane closure on northbound I-75 will continue to shift to the right between the Springwells Street Bridge and Waterman Street until spring 2025.

I-75 Service Drive 

  • The existing closure at the southbound I-75 Service Drive between McKinstry Street and Clark Steet will remain in place until late summer 2025.
  • Sections of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed until summer 2025.
    • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between southboundI-75 and the Clark Street off-ramp to Hubbard Street.
    • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and the southbound I-75 off-ramp.
  • The existing closure on southbound and northbound I-75 Service Drives between Central Street and GreenStreet will remain in place until further notice.
  • The existing mobile closures on the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives will remain in place until summer 2025 from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • Southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Waterman Street.
    • Northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Rademacher Street.
    • Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
  • Northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive will close over a long-term period between Green Street and Waterman Street. Combined with pre-existing Service Drive closures in the area will make the entire northbound and southbound Service Drive closed from Springwells Street to Clark Street.
  • The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Witt Street and Govin Street until further notice.
  • The following road closures are in place:
    • Waterman Street between northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive
    • Dragoon Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
    • Green Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
  • The existing lane closures on northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain in place until summer 2025 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • The left or right lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street as needed.
    • All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street as needed.
  • The existing lane closures on the southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain in place until spring 2025.
    • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • All lanes on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The existing right and/or left lane closures on northbound I-75 Service Drive between Central Street and Green Street will remain in place until spring 2025 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. dailyas needed.
  • The existing lane closures on southbound and northbound I-75 Service Drives will remain in place until summer 2025.
    • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Lewerenz Street and Livernois Avenue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • The left lane on northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Rademacher Street and Livernois Avenue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Lewerenz Street until spring 2025. This is a recurring closure that will be in place when needed and removed when the closure isn’t necessary.
  • All lanes of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Lewerenz Street until spring 2025 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right or left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently to the west of Springwells Street until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right or left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently between Springwells Street and Central Street until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right or left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently between Springwells Street and Central Street until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The existing closures on northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives between Dragoon Street and Clark Street will remain in place until summer 2025.
  • The existing closure on the southbound I-75 Service Drive between Wilde Street and Waterman Street will remain in place until summer 2025. One lane will remain open.
  • The right lane on the southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently at Green Street until late winter 2025.
  • The right lane on the northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently at Green Street until late winter 2025.
  • The right lane on the southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently at Clark Street until late winter 2025.
  • Northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed at the intersection of Junction Street until summer 2025.
  • The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between the I-75 off-ramp and Springwells Street until spring 2025 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed intermittently at Clark Street until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • Closures will be less than 10 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

Campbell Street

  • Campbell Street will remain closed between Fort Street and the northbound I-75 Service Drive until summer 2025.
  • The right lane on southbound Campbell Street will close intermittently between Jefferson Avenue and Driggs Street from May 30 – June 30, 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

Livernois Avenue 

  • The existing closure on Livernois Avenue between Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks and Fort Street will remain in place until spring 2025.
  • The right lane on Livernois Avenue will close between Fort Street and Lafayette Blvd. from June 27 – July 31, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • There will be a mobile closure on Livernois Avenue between Fort Street and Lafayette Blvd. from June 27 – July 31, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • Only one lane on Livernois Avenue will close at a time. The mobile closure will be less than one hour in duration.

Jefferson Avenue 

  • The existing intermittent lane closures on Jefferson Avenue between Green Street and Rademacher Street will remain in place until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
  • The existing right lane closure on eastbound and westbound Jefferson Avenue between West End Street and Springwells Court will remain in place until spring 2025. One lane on eastbound and westbound Jefferson Avenue will remain open in each direction.
  • The right lane on eastbound and westbound Jefferson Avenue will close intermittently between Springwells Court and Junction Street from June 4 – August 29, 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

West End Street

  • The right lane of northbound or southbound West End Street will remain closed intermittently at Fort Street until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

Green Street 

  • The right shoulder of northbound or southbound Green Street will remain closed intermittently between Fort Street and northbound I-75 Service Drive until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
  • The right shoulder of northbound or southbound Green Street will remain closed intermittently between southbound I-75 Service Drive and Lafayette Boulevard from until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.

Clark Street 

  • The right lane on northbound Clark Street will remain closed intermittently at the southbound I-75 Service Drive until late winter 2025.
  • Southbound and northbound Clark Street will close intermittently at the southbound I-75 Service Drive funtil summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • Closures will be less than 10 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
  • Southbound and northbound Clark Street will close intermittently at the northbound I-75 Service Drive until summer 2025, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • Closures will be less than 10 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

Springwells Street 

  • The right lane on southbound Springwells Street will remain closed intermittently between the southbound I-75 Service Drive and Olivet Street until late winter 2025.
  • The right lane on southbound Springwells Street will remain closed intermittently at Fort Street until late winter 2025.

Junction Street 

  • The existing closure on Junction Street between Fort Street and northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed until late summer 2025.
    • When Junction Street is closed, drivers will use Campbell Street to access the alley (north of Fort Street between Campbell Street and Junction Street). This will be the primary access point for residents who live on the west side of Junction Street during this work.
    • BNA will be onsite and will coordinate local access as needed to Junction Street during construction work hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • During work hours, residents can park on Fort Street near the corner of Junction Street or on Junction Street, south of Fort Street (near CHASS).
    • Campbell Street and Junction Street will not close at the same time to ensure access is maintained. Traffic updates will be provided as work moves forward. Emergency Services will be kept informed of all access changes in the area.
    • Pedestrian access will be available around Junction Street through Fort Street, Campbell Street, Morrell Street and the northbound I-75 Service Drive.
    • The Junction Street closure will not impact trash pick-up, mail delivery or access to homes.
    • Detour routes are in place and include the following:
    • Junction Street Detour
    • Local traffic on Fort Street heading to Junction Street northbound will be detoured to Campbell Street northbound, east on northbound I-75 Service Drive to Junction Street.
    • Local residents north of Fort Street between Campbell Street and Morrell Street can access Fort Street through Campbell Street, the alleyways, northbound I-75 Service Drive, and Morrell Street by following the detour signs.
  • The existing closure on Junction Street at the intersection of the northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain in place until spring 2025 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
    • Detour routes are in place and include the following:
    • Junction Street Detour
    • Local residents north of Fort Street between Campbell Street and Junction Street can access Fort Street through Campbell Street and the local alleyway by following thedetour signs.
    • Local residents north of Fort Street between Junction Street and the alleyway between Junction Street and Morrell Street can access Fort Street through Morrell Street and the local alleyways by following the detour signs.

W. Jefferson Avenue 

  • Starting May 12, 2025, Bridging North America will temporarily close eastbound W. Jefferson Avenue between West End Street and Springwells Court for bike path and sidewalk construction. This closure will be in place until summer 2025.
    • Detour routes are in place and include the following:
    • EB Fort Street Detour
    • Traffic on eastbound Fort Street heading to eastbound W. Jefferson Avenue will continue east on Fort Street, south on Campbell Street, then to W. Jefferson Avenue.
    • SB Springwells Street Detour
    • Traffic on southbound Springwells Street heading to eastbound W. Jefferson Avenue will be detoured east on Fort Street, south on Campbell Street, then to W. Jefferson Avenue.
    • EB W. Jefferson Avenue Detour
    • Eastbound W. Jefferson Avenue traffic will be detoured north to West End Street, east on Fort Street, south on Campbell Street, then to W. Jefferson Avenue.

Long Term I-75 Closures: As construction of the Michigan Interchange and the US Port of Entry (POE) continues, Bridging North America will extend the temporary closures along Livernois Avenue. Additionally, Cavalry Street and Military Street will remain closed over a long-term period. As a reminder, in July 2020, several streets closed over a long-term period including sections of Dragoon Street, Driggs Street, Harvey Street, Reeder Street and Hussar Street.

Junction Street

  • Junction Street bridge between the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives will close over a long-term period.

Springwells Court 

  • The existing closure on northbound and southbound Springwells Court will remain closed west of the Lafarge entrance to the east of the Springwells Court detour until late spring 2025.

Cavalry Street

  • Cavalry Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.

Military Street

  • Military Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.

Post Street 

  • Post Street remains closed over a long-term period between CSX Railroad and the Delray Mechanical entrance.
  • On March 25, 2024, Post Street will close over a long-term period between Jefferson Avenue and South Street. Access will be maintained for Delray Mechanical from Jefferson Avenue.

I-75 Northbound

  • The Livernois exit-ramp at Northbound I-75 will close over a long-term period.

Construction Activities 

US Port of Entry (POE)

  • Construction activities remain ongoing for interior and exterior components of the buildings and structures.
  • This month, crews continue to work on landscaping while furniture is moved into various buildings. 

US Bridge site

  • The two sides of the bridge deck are now connected over the Detroit River.
  • All stay cables have been installed. 
  • Approach and back span activities are ongoing.
  • The US bridge tower has reached its full height of 220 metres/722 feet.
  • Ongoing activities include the installation of fencing, signage, lighting and systems such as fire suppression and drainage.

Michigan Interchange

  • Construction continues as noted in the Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures above.
  • This month, the focus is on paving, sidewalks and bicycle lanes.
