To mark “2000 Days of Construction,” the Gordie Howe International Bridge project team held a hard hat sticker contest. This was a chance for the public to demonstrate creative skills and show appreciation for the thousands of workers making the Gordie Howe International Bridge project a reality. Congratulations to the winners.
Kids Ages 6-12
- First Place – Abigail Wang
- Finalists – Hayden Kovac and Sam Zhou
Youth Ages 13-17
- First Place – Gaahei Lau

Adults Ages 18+

- Finalists – April Adan and Aaron Wigcherink
The first-place designs are printed as stickers and distributed to the workers who don their hard hats every day. Just as a passport stamp is proof of places visited, hard hat stickers represent projects and construction sites worked.
Members of the public can also pick up stickers for free, while quantities last, at our Community Offices in Sandwich and Southwest Detroit. For hours and location, visit our contact page.
Eighty-nine designs were submitted across all three age groups. Three finalists from each group were selected by a panel of WDBA employee judges before turning the final say over to the Gordie Howe International Bridge project’s social media followers who voted online and chose the winners.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the “2000 Days of Construction” Hard Hat Sticker Contest.
