Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) has won a Silver Leaf Award of Merit for its “Completing Tower Construction for the Gordie Howe International Bridge” video. The award, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Canada, celebrates excellence in business communication.
Recognized in the Audio/Visual category for its comprehensive communication tactics which included a communications plan, storyboard, work plan, and final video highlighting construction completion on the two iconic Gordie Howe International Bridge towers, WDBA’s Corporate Affairs and External Relations (CAER), Communications Team received the Silver Leaf Award of Merit.
“I am grateful to IABC Canada for the prestigious recognition,” shares Heather Grondin, Chief Relations Officer for WDBA. “The building of the Gordie Howe International Bridge is a once-in-a-generation project and we work to connect with, captivate and engage our diverse audiences through impactful products like the tower completion video.”
Judges labelled the video “mesmerizing,” “engaging,” “informative” and “professionally executed and strategic,” while highlighting “the choice of medium works very well to engage, provide meaningful content and information, while also commemorating a major milestone.” Another judge contributed that the video was “a fascinating opportunity for the target audience to experience the construction of the bridge leading up to the two towers.”
The award-winning video, which was honoured with two Virtuoso Awards by the IABC London chapter earlier this year, currently has over 118,000 views on YouTube.
