Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures
Fort Street
- The existing parking lane closure on westbound Fort Street between Dragoon Street and Military Street will remain in place until further notice.
Jefferson Avenue - NEW
- Starting October 13, 2023, Bridging North America will implement intermittent lane closures on Jefferson Avenue between Green Street and Rademacher Street for equipment crossings. This closure will be in place until April 13, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed. The closures will be less than five minutes in duration. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
- Starting November 27, 2023, one lane on Jefferson Avenue will close between Green Street and Springwells Court until November 28, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- Starting December 16, 2023, one lane on Jefferson Avenue will close between Green Street and Springwells Court until December 21, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- Starting November 29, 2023, Jefferson Avenue will close between Green Street and Springwells Court until December 15, 2023, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly as needed.
- The existing intermittent lane closures on Jefferson Ave between Rademacher St and Military St will remain in place until fall 2023. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
Junction Street
- The existing lane closures on northbound and southbound Junction Street between Fort Street and the northbound I-75 Service Drive will be extended until further notice from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. daily as needed.
- Two-way traffic will be maintained for Junction Street between Fort Street and the northbound I-75 Service Drive until further notice from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
- The lane closures will not impact trash pick-up, mail delivery or access to businesses, residences, garages or driveways. Parking will not be available on northbound and southbound Junction Street between Fort Street and the northbound I-75 Service Drive until further notice from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily as needed.
I-75 Northbound
- The Livernois exit-ramp at Northbound I-75 will close over a long-term period.
I-75 Southbound
- The right shoulder and right lane will close on northbound I-75 from Springwells Street to Clark Street from September 26, 2022 – December 18, 2023.
- The right shoulder and right lane will close on southbound I-75 from Bagley Avenue to Springwells Street from October 3, 2022 – December 18, 2023.
Livernois Avenue - NEW
- The existing right lane closure on Livernois Avenue between northbound and southbound I-75 will remain in place until fall 2023. Only one lane on Livernois Avenue will close. Livernois Avenue will remain open to traffic in both directions.
I-75
- The left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice.
- All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until further notice, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- The right shoulder of the I-75 on-ramp will remain closed between Springwells Street and southbound I-75 until further notice.
- The existing mobile closures along northbound and southbound I-75 between Schaefer Avenue and Michigan Avenue will remain in place until spring 2024, from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- The southbound I-75 exit ramp will remain closed between southbound I-75 and Springwells Street until further notice.
- The southbound I-75 exit ramp right shoulder will remain closed at southbound I-75 until further notice.
I-75 Service Drive - NEW
- The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Lewerenz Street until late fall 2023. This is a recurring closure that will be in place when needed and removed when the closure isn’t necessary.
- All lanes of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Lewerenz Street until late fall 2023 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- The existing closure on southbound and northbound I-75 Service Drives between Central Street and Green Street will remain in place until further notice.
- The existing mobile closures on the northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Rademacher Street until spring 2024 from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
- The existing mobile closures on the southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Clark Street and Scotten Street and also Springwells Street to Waterman Street until spring 2024 from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
- Northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive will close over a long-term period between Green Street and Waterman Street. Combined with pre-existing Service Drive closures in the area will make the entire northbound and southbound Service Drive closed from Springwells Street to Clark Street.
- The left lane of southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Witt Street and Govin Street until further notice.
- The right and/or left lane closures on northbound I-75 Service Drive between Central Street and Green Street will remain in place until late fall 2023 from 7 a.m to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- The left lane on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street until late fall 2023.
- All lanes on southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Central Street and Green Street until late fall 2023, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
- The left lane of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until late fall 2023
- All lanes of northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wilde Street and Rademacher Street until late fall 2023, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily as needed.
The following road closures are in place:
- Waterman Street between northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drive
- Dragoon Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
- Green Street between Fort Street and the southbound I-75 Service Drive
Long Term I-75 Closures: As construction of the Michigan Interchange and the US Port of Entry (POE) continues, Bridging North America will extend the temporary closures along Livernois Avenue. Additionally, Cavalry Street and Military Street will remain closed over a long-term period. As a reminder, in July 2020, several streets closed over a long-term period including sections of Dragoon Street, Driggs Street, Harvey Street, Reeder Street and Hussar Street.
Junction Street
- Junction Street bridge between the northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives will close over a long-term period.
Springwells Court
- Springwells Court northbound and southbound is closed west of the Lafarge entrance to east of the Springwells Court detour from May 15, 2021 until November 23, 2024.
Cavalry Street
- Cavalry Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.
Military Street
- Military Street will remain closed between the northbound I-75 Service Drive and Fort Street.
Post Street
- Post Street remains closed over a long-term period between CSX Railroad and the Delray Mechanical entrance.
Campbell Street
- The existing long-term closure on Campbell Street between West Jefferson Avenue and Fort Street will remain in place until fall 2023.
Construction Activities
US Port of Entry (POE)
- Construction activities remain ongoing for interior and exterior components of the buildings and structures.
- This week, activities include installation of curtain wall, drywall, plumbing fixtures and humidifier ducts. Crews also installed Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, panels, transformers and inverters.
- The team formed booth walls and crash blocks.
US Bridge site
- Cap construction continued at anchor pier.
- Installation of main span segment panels continued.
- Stay cable installation work continues.
- Approach and back span activities are ongoing.
- The US bridge tower has reached its full height of 220 metres/722 feet. The jump form system has been completely removed.
Michigan Interchange
- Construction continues as noted in the Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures above.
- Siphon work continues in various areas.
- Crews installed drainage structures, drilled shafts for noise walls and continued work on pedestrian bridges.
