The Gordie Howe International Bridge project team is pleased to announce the completion of its artist selection process for the Commemorative Art Commission recognizing the Underground Railroad. Jordan Sook, a contemporary mixed media artist, will develop the commission to be installed at the Canadian Port of Entry.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge project team looks to celebrate recent project achievements with residents and thank them for their support and patience over the last five years of construction by hosting community appreciation breakfasts.

With a variety of recent and upcoming achievements on the Gordie Howe International Bridge project, Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) and Bridging North America look to celebrate with residents and thank them for their support and patience over the last five years of construction by hosting two community appreciation breakfasts.

In 2023, the project reached an important achievement. Over 10,000 workers have gone through orientation to work on the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. The project continues to exceed the goal of reaching 20% local workforce with 42% of project staff being local to the City of Detroit or Windsor-Essex.

The project is seeking volunteers to serve on its Local Community Group, a 16-membercollective that represents the communities of Delray/Southwest Detroit, Sandwich/west Windsor, Windsor-Essex County and the Greater Detroit Area, providing valuable input and linkages into the region to help the project team better understand community and stakeholder perspectives in the delivery of the Community Benefits Plan.

Join us for Gordie Howe International Bridge Public Information Meetings. We will be at CHASS Center in Detroit on September 19, 2023, and at Mackenzie Hall in Windsor on September 21, 2023. Hear the latest updates on Community Benefits and construction progress on Canadian and US project components. Presentations will take place at 3:30p.m. and 5:15 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer session.
